Unpredicta-ball

They've still got a winning record (11-10), they've got All-Stars on the ballot, and most importantly, the Nats are unpredictable. How boring has it been to watch those doggone Yanks win all the time, or the Pirates lose? These guys keep us guessing, which makes for entertaining games. Not one team has been able to sweep a three-game series against Washington, although they have dropped four of five to Florida. STILL ... they're on top of the Phillies this season after Nick Johnson and Brad Wilkerson both homered tonight to lead the Nationals to a 3-1 win and even the home series. ... Here's a scrappy team in its first season in a new city. Fans don't need a championship yet, they just need baseball.

They're going down sooner or later. Go Yanks.

My favorite "Yanks" moment: Pirates 10, Yankees 9, seventh game of the 1960 World Series. Bill Maz hits his way into history. Booya!

Back to the Nats, though, did you know the Yankees beat the Nats in their last game in RFK on a forfeit because a bunch of kids stormed the field and started a riot?
